This facial includes a double deep pore cleanse under warm steam followed by a customized treatment for your specific needs and concerns. You will also enjoy an essential oil shoulder massage, extractions (if needed), followed by application of serums, moisturizers and sun protections customized just for you.

Glotherapeutics offers a number of anti-aging products including chemical peels that will help plump, hydrate, reduce the signs of fine line and hyper-pigmentation. A proper chemical peel for you will be chosen for the treatment prior to your facial during a short skin analysis process. This will guarantee that the products are most beneficial and will help you walk out feeling more confident with younger looking skin.

Quick Fix Facial: This is for the patient who needs a quick fix but will experience the same wonderful products as our signature facial. Back Facial: This is similar to our signature facial but it’s for your back. For anyone who needs exfoliation, has acne problems, or just enjoys a nice essential oil back treatment.

Microdermabrasion: If you have never had a microdermabrasion treatment, it’s time to start! This fairly new technology uses microscopic sized crystals for a physical exfoliation treatment like no other. Unlike high grade chemical peels, this treatment offers results such as soft supple skin, a glow that gives the appearance of complete hydration, and you can say goodbye to those damaging sun spots that are deep and have acquired over time. If you want to get ahead and start treating those fine lines and wrinkles and expose that new skin, this is the right treatment for you. As microscopic crystals provide deep exfoliation, the vacuum suctioning action lifts dead skin cells away leaving a clear, soft and even complexion. This treatment works best with a series including anywhere from 3-6 facials, helping to achieve the full benefits of the product. The treatment also includes a double cleanse, hydrating mask, essential oil shoulder massage and treatment serums, creams and sun protection.

Pousti Plastic Surgery  offers a great number of chemical peels as well that will wash away that layer of dead skin cells to enhance your skin tone and improve texture. You will see those sunspots fade, that hyper pigmentation disappear and those fine lines and wrinkles diminish in appearance. Not only will your skin feel smooth it will make your makeup glide on like it never has before.

SUN DAMAGE ON THE SKIN

It seems like everywhere we look, we’re constantly being reminded of the dangers of sun damage. Aside from applying sunblock, however, there is little information on how to treat it or even its effects on skin. Lets take a look at what sun damage is and how it affects people.

Cause:
When most people think of sun damage, they often have an extreme mental picture. Maybe an old lady who spent her time gardening or in the tanning beds too much, (think Magda in the movie “There’s Something About Mary”.) However, sun damage begins and generally stays much more subtle. Sun Damage begins by first dehydrating the skin. The more skin heats up, the water in our skin gets warm as well. After a short time water begins to evaporate and once the dehydration process starts, it has a snowball effect. When our skin gets dehydrated it beings to function more slowly and sluggishly. Skin can’t repair itself and shortly there after, melanin is produced to to protect the outermost later of our skin. Melanin is the pigment that gives us a tan, however by the time we see melanin production, our skin is already telling us its under attack and hurting. With the dehydration process in full effect and the melanin production in high gear, this causes the inflammation cascade. Essentially, all repair functions slow down and the skin becomes victim to the sun.

Symptoms:
Ranging from mild to extreme, sun damage comes in many forms:

In the beginning stages, simple dehydration causes fine lines, wrinkles, freckles.

Moderate sun damage includes deepening of wrinkles, large sun spots, areas of melasma, and precancerous lesions can appear.

Severe sun damage results in a total lack of elasticity, cancerous growths, leathery appearance, and deep wrinkles.

Treatment:

All stages of sun damage respond well to aggressive exfoliation. This includes chemical peels and microdermabrasion, often paired together. Chemical peels that have the most positive impact are Jessner and TCA . Both Jessner and TCA peels can be layered for the level of aggression that the patient is comfortable with, even mixing the two together. There are also options as far as home care is concerned. Lightening agents such as Hydroquinone, Kojic Acid, Vitamin C and Niacin. These ingredients help slow the production of melanin, lighten the skin from within, and prevent/treat the inflammation that sun damage causes.
Sun damage and other pigmentation issues, such as melasma, take time to treat. Often a series of treatments is recommended, that way the skin can be prepared properly and many of layers of skin can be lifted and rejuvenated.

Our Aesthetician Eryka has earned a Masters and has treated hundreds of patients with every skin concern imaginable. Eryka has performed thousands of peels and has experienced everything personally. She will guide you though the process and discuss which options are best for you.

Neocutis is a skincare line designed to replenish aging skin with the natural proteins and collagen production that slows down during the aging process. It is used to reverse the harmful affects of sun damage and promote anti-aging.

Many wrinkle creams and lotions sold in department stores, drugstores and on the Internet promise to reduce wrinkles and prevent or reverse damage caused by the sun. Women across the country waist thousands of dollars a year on fancy floral scented moisturizers and creams in hopes that they’re results will make them look like the celebrities advertising them. Unfortunately many of these women are just paying for the name of the sticker on the bottle of an overpriced and well-marketed lotion.

That is why Pousti Plastic Surgery carries Neocutis, a prescription skin treatment that is gentle enough to use every day but effective enough to need a prescription. Dr. Pousti believes that every one of his patients is VIP and that they deserve the best that is out there. Our staff has first hand experience with the products we offer so that when they are asked questions they can give a sincere, honest and educated opinion on the product.

Studies also show that Neocutis is proven to help with rosacea, promote wound healing and correct skin discoloration.

Patient testimonial:

I started noticing brown spots on my face and I was looking for something to help with the unevenness of my skin. I wanted a system that was easy to use but also effective.  I have just turned 40 years old and I wanted to have a preventative skin care system to reduce the chances of skin aging.  I had tried many different types of bleaching creams and skin care systems but most did not work.  I found Blanche by Neocutis and gave it a try.  It was amazing how quickly my skin was brighter, lighter and the pigment had faded.  It was amazing!  I loved the results!  I ran out of the bleaching cream and after a while I noticed that my skin was starting to go back to how it was before I started using the skin care product.  I immediately purchased more of the bleaching cream as well as the rest of the skin care system for my face.  I now use the cleanser, the eye cream, the day and night cream as well as the skin lightening cream.  The eye cream feels wonderful and I can see it making a difference on the wrinkles around my eyes.  The day cream has SPF 30+ which is good for me because I don’t like putting  sunblock on my face.

I love these facial products and have recommended them to all my family and friends.

FAQ

What makes Bio-restorative Skin Cream unique?
Bio-restorative Skin Cream is the first cream containing PSP, which is a balanced mixture of cytokines and growth factors associated with optimal nutritive properties for skin.

Why is PSP better than a single growth factor?
Years of research on scarless wound healing demonstrated that the interaction of many cytokines, growth factors and their regulators are required for optimal nutrition and bio-restoration of skin.

How is PSP obtained?
PSP is obtained from cultured skin cells after cell disruption by several freeze-thawing cycles. The cells are derived from skin cells stored in a cell bank. The PSP production process is based on standard cell culture technique.

Is PSP safe for topical use?
PSP is well tolerated for topical use. It is neither a contact irritant nor a contact allergen. The cells used to initiate PSP production were free of viruses or viral adventitious agents, mycoplasma, bacteria or fungi. PSP is produced under stringent manufacturing procedures similarly than required for a biological drug product by regulatory authorities around the world.

What is the exact composition of PSP?
PSP is composed of skin proteins and other processed skin cell constituents obtained after cell disruption. It does not contain cells. Genomic [37] or proteomic [25] studies on the cells used for PSP production indicate numerous growth factors including basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF), epidermal growth factor (EGF), keratinocyte growth factor (KGF), all human isoforms of transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-ß), granulatory colony stimulating factor (GCSF), insulin-like growth factor (IGF) as well as vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF).

Is Bio-restorative Skin Cream well tolerated on sensitive or stressed skin?
The cream was designed for ensuring excellent skin acceptability: free of fragrances, color additives and sunscreens. The good skin tolerability of the cream was confirmed during dermatotoxicology studies. The cream is neither an skin irritant nor a contact allergen.
Can Bio-restorative Skin Cream be used for treating wounds?
Bio-restorative Skin Cream is for external use only and not for application over open or punctured wounds, infections or lacerations.

Is Bio-restorative Skin Cream a drug product and was it approved by FDA?
Bio-restorative Skin Cream is a cosmetic product. It restores the normal appearance of sensitive, stressed and irritated skin by nourishing, refreshing and revitalizing the skin’s outer layer.

What’s the #1 thing I can do to help my skin?
-Sunblock! Sun damage is the number one cause of premature aging. Excessive sun exposure dehydrates the skin, creating fine lines, wrinkles, sun spots, and darkens existing pigmentation in the skin. Basically, it’s a one way ticket to looking 60 when you’re 40. There are a million types of sunblock out there so don’t give up. If you tend to itch, burn, or breakout after applying, you’re most likely allergic to chemical sunblock. Look for sunblocks that contain Titanium Dioxide and Zinc Oxide, as apposed to Oxybenzone, Avobenzone, OctylSalate, etc. A lot of times sunblock that’s mixed with makeup or moisturizer is chemically based, so your morning routine may have to be separate steps. Most non chemical sunblocks will say “Natural”, “Pure”, “Free”, “Gentle”, or “Sensitive”.

Why do I need to come in for professional treatments to treat my skin?
-Honestly, it all comes down to numbers. Mainly, the years of experience an Aesthetician has and the percentage of acids in the treatments. Obviously, the more years experience the Aesthetician has the more skin they’ve seen and the more adept they are at their craft. The other side is that professionals use incredibly strong acids, much more so than anything you can buy online. There is a craze right now of buying things online and doing it yourself, which is a terrible idea. It’s the same as knowing you need a root canal and after reading up on the procedure, decide to have a go at it yourself. There are unforeseen risks, complications, and hazards. An Aesthetician has, the wider array of treatments they will be able to do.

Why don’t products from Walmart work?
-Its all about formulation. Ironically, the companies who advertise the most, put the least into their products. If they would put half of their advertising budget into their products everyone would have flawless skin at ridiculously inexpensive prices. No to mention, only a few brands would survive since the big guys would drive out all of the competition. Also, the big guys aren’t interested in changing and supporting skin care, so the actual process of making the products is slip shot at best. Say Oil of Olay has a Vitamin C night cream, they can literally take a 50 gallon drum of basic moisturizer, put an eye dropper full of Vitamin C, churn it about and voila! That’s not even taking into consideration that Vitamin C is extremely heat sensitive. Was this batch being made in Texas in the summer? Did it sit in the warehouse in Arizona? Has it been on the shelf in California for 2 years? All good questions. Not to mention, products are generally only viable up to a year after they’ve been made. Past one year, performance ingredients evaporate, oils separate, and anything good in there disappears, Professional lines guarantee pH of products, % of active/performance ingredients, made to order batches and proper formulation.

I don’t want to spend a lot of money/time/effort/discomfort in regards to my skin. What can I do?
-Honestly not much. Making sure you have superb home care will go a long way, however professional treatments are what really kicks things up a notch. Take acne, for example. Serums, cleaners, and masks will help inflammation, however they can’t remove the dead skin deep in the pores. The only way it can be seen is through a magnifying lamp and with someone who knows what they’re looking for, (which to some extent not all Aestheticians do.) Also, with sun damage or wrinkles, you can stop future damage but it’s nearly impossible to reverse what’s there without more aggressive treatments. To sum things up, spent the time/money/effort and get result you’re proud of rather than skimp and be unhappy for a longer period of time.

Is there really a connection between diet and your skin, especially with acne?
-Yes and no. A balanced healthy diet gives more nutrients to the body, more oxygen to the blood, and therefore more efficient skin. As far as breakouts go, everyone has the P. Acnes bacterium in their pores, it just tends to be more active in others. Certain food can cause inflammation and take a small/underground problem and turn it into World War 3. Also, there’s always a big debate on how much water to drink. The more water the better, as far as most Aestheticians are concerned. Everyone is dehydrated due to stress, environment, incorrect product usage, etc. However, adding an extra glass of water a day won’t cure acne or get rid of wrinkles.

Why can’t I get the deepest peel or treatment my first visit?
-This is because your skin needs to be conditioned for aggressive treatments, especially if you have a darker skin tone or spend a lot of time in the sun. Anyone with Hispanic/Mediterranean/Persian/African or darker Caucasian tones are more at risk for pigmentation complications. The first being Hyper pigmentation. this is when patches of skin produce more pigment as a defense mechanism against trauma. Trauma being the peel or treatment. While this type of pigmentation is unpleasant looking, it is reversible. However, hyper pigmentation takes time and therefore effort and/or money to correct. It is much better to avoid it in the long run. The second pigmentation complication is Hypo pigmentation. Hypo pigmentation happens when the melanocyte (cell that produced the melanin pigment) is damaged and stops producing melanin. This process is irreversible, unless you want to bleach the rest of your skin, (think Michael Jackson.)

Why is home care such a big deal?
-Home care supports and encourages professional treatments. They can also help control and mitigate some of the effects of certain skin conditions, like acne or rosacea. Also, you get a professional treatment about once a month. You take care of your skin the rest of the month. Since you spend the most time with your own skin, it really makes sense to invest in good home care and not start from square one each time you get a professional treatment.

Why is it a good idea to go through a series of treatments?
-There are a few reasons, actually. The first being that anyone who claims they can “cure” a skin condition in one treatment is full of it. No skin condition was created in a weekend, and it can’t be solved in a weekend. Also, your skin will be able to handle much more aggressive treatments over time than your first appointment. Moer aggression means more improvement and better results. Also, a series demands commitment. It shows a willingness and dedication to changing your skin. In terms of your skin, anything worthwhile takes time.

What kind of makeup is best?
-In a perfect world, just mascara and lipstick would suffice. However, mineral makeup is by far the best in terms of your skin. There are a million mineral companies out there these days and they’re all pretty good. The only caution is that some companies use an ingredient called Bismuth Oxychloride. This is a filler and is known to cause itching, burning, swelling and overall skin discomfort. If you have sensitive skin, avoid this ingredient.

Why can’t I sweat or go into the sun after a treatment?
-Irritation, plain and simple. Peels and other treatments put heat into the skin, which is the burning sensation people sometimes feel. By sweating/having sun exposure you’re adding even more heat, in essence, ticking off the skin. Also, sweat brings the bacterium inside your pores to the surface and spreads over the skin. This can result in breakouts for several weeks after treatment. The more aggressive the treatment, the more you need to take it easy. If you need to spend extended time outside make sure you wear SPF, a hat, use an umbrella, etc. No sunbathing, tanning beds, gardening, working out as well. Basically, just chill!
