| This 24 year old male from Texas flew in to meet Dr. Pousti because he was VERY UNCOMFORTABLE with his chest wall. He did not like having his shirt off and it was bothering him more and more. He and his mom found Dr. Pousti on the internet when they searched "custom pectoralis implant". They saw that Dr. Pousti is a double board certified Plastic Surgeon with a lot of experience with pec implants and pectus excavatum. In pectus excavatum, also known as funnel chest, the sternum (breastbone) is depressed relative to the rest of the chest wall. Breast implants can be used to camouflage mild to moderate pectus excavatum. No matter where you decide to have your pectoralis excavatum repair, make sure your surgeon has experience, and that your safety and comfort are your surgeon's primary concern. Dr. Pousti has considerable experience with using breast implants to improve the appearance of the chest wall for patients with pectoralis excavatum.
This patient flew in for a consultation with Dr. Pousti and had the moulage made. The moulage is how we make the custom implants. It is a mold that is shaped accordingly and dried. It is then sent to the manufactorer to be made into a solid silicone implant.
Markings were performed the morning of surgery. The area of greatest depression was marked.
In the operating room, care was taken to dissect the pocket carefully.
Here is a picture of the solid silicone implant that will be placed on the patient's chest wall. This is in the operating room, immediately after the surgery. As you can see, the depression is minimized and the cosmetic result is beautiful.
