| This 29 year old from El Cajon, California wanted to increase her breast size for about 4 years. She researched board certified plastic surgeons in her area to perform her breast enhancement surgery and was impressed when she found Dr. Pousti. After reading several patient testimonials and looking through his photo gallery with “before” and “after” pictures, she decided to schedule a consultation with him.
After examining the patient, Dr. Pousti determined the patient was a good candidate for breast augmentation surgery with the use of silicone gel implants. Silicone gel implants are recommended for patient’s who have little body fat or breast tissue to help prevent implant rippling. The patient felt confident in Dr. Pousti’s ability to achieve her goals and decided to proceed with her breast enhancement surgery. Dr. Pousti encouraged the patient to bring in goal pictures representing the size and shape she wanted to achieve with her breast augmentation. Dr. Pousti met with the patient prior to surgery to perform markings of the breast. The markings are key to achieving symmetry and the patient’s goals. The smiley face marking represents mild asymmetry present between the breasts.
Dr. Pousti uses sizer implants in the operating room prior to final implant placement. The sizer implants are placed into the breast pocket and filled with air until the patient’s goal size based on her goal pictures has been achieved. The patient is sat upright several times with the implant sizers inflated to check for symmetry and pocket dissection accuracy. Sizing is noted and the temporary sizer implants are removed. Silicone gel implants are placed using the Keller Funnel method. This method uses a sterile funnel to distribute the implant into the breast pocket allowing for less risk of contamination.
Dr. Pousti used a 616cc silicone gel implant on the left breast and a 575cc silicone gel implant on the right breast to achieve better symmetry.
