This 36 year old patient from Lees Summit, Missouri had been interested in revising and replacing her current implants due to an silicone gel implant rupture and capsular contracture. During her online research, she came across Dr. Pousti, a double board certified plastic surgeon, and was looking for someone with great knowledge and expertise that could assist her with a possible revisionary breast surgery.
Upon receipt of her email, Dr. Pousti glanced over her photos and it was determined that she had capsular contracture with a possible implant rupture. Dr. Pousti recommended that revisionary breast surgery was necessary to achieve what the patient was looking for. Dr. Pousti explained that capsulectomy (to remove scar tissue), removal of current implants, and replacement of new silicone gel implants would be the best result for a more natural feel. She decided it was time to proceed with surgery.
The patient flew in for her in-person consult with Dr. Pousti and preoperative surgery appointment. It was determined then that she had an implant rupture from the way the implant moved inside her breast. Dr. Pousti advised that she remove the current silicone gel implants and replace them with new high profile, silicone gel implants. The patient agreed and they headed to the operating room.
Removal of the ruptured implant is shown below.
The ruptured implant and the encapsulated implant were removed and compared side by side. The encapsulated implant took a different form from the surrounding scar tissue.
The patient is shown immediately post removal of ruptured implant and capsulectomy surgery.
The patient is very happy with her results so far!
