| This 25-year old patient from Palm Desert, California was post breast augmentation surgery perform by another doctor in Mexico, due to “bottoming out” (inferior migration of implants) and symmastia (implants touch one another in the center of the chest) the patient was extremely unhappy with the results of her surgery.

When the horizontal muscle, which is connected to the sternum, is cut during surgery, the implants can move toward the middle of the chest. Symmastia results from overly aggressive attempts to alter chest wall anatomy trying to increase cleavage in patients.

Her sister, who is a patient of Dr. Pousti, referred her to Dr. Pousti as an expert in breast augmentation revision. The patient met with Dr. Pousti at his Murrieta office, during her consultation the patient was able to look through many before and after pictures of patients who had the same complications. After seeing her sister result, and many other post surgery patients who were willing to share their experiences with her, the patient was confident in Dr. Pousti and knew he would be the best plastic surgeon to perform her surgery.

(Intra-Operative) Symmastia and bottoming out repair was performed by using internal sutures to create an “internal bra” for the new position of the implants. Implants were placed submuscularly for some softening of the transition to the cleavage area. The muscle is then sutured internally back in place, connecting the sternum.

Silicone-gel breast implants, 575cc in the left breast and 533cc in the right breast for symmetry.

The Thong Bra is worn for approximately 3-months to protect and support the internal suturing repair.
The patient is now 3-months post-op surgery and is very happy with the results.
