Tuberous Breast Deformity Patients

This 25 year old from San Diego, California was interested in a breast augmentation for several years. She was unsatisfied with the size and shape of her breasts. Upon examination it was determined that the patient had tuberous breasts which typically have a very narrow base and usually a long skin envelope. The patient found Dr. Pousti online after researching surgeons in her area that have experience with performing a successful breast augmentation and breast lift on tubular breasts.

After meeting with Dr. Pousti, she felt comfortable with choosing him as her surgeon. Dr. Pousti explained to the patient that an incision around the areola would lift the areola/nipple complex and create a rounder look once the implants were placed below the muscle.

Prior to surgery, the patient and Dr. Pousti met to perform markings and discuss implant size and incisions.

Tuberous breast correction involves making internal incisions to release the tight breast tissues, making a larger space for the breast implant, rounding out the lower breast crease, and correcting enlarged and protruding areola. During the procedure, the areola is also decreased in size to be proportionate to the breasts.

A 475cc Silicone Gel implant was used in the patient’s right breast and a 500cc silicone implant was used on the left along with a limited benelli lift. The different implant sizes were used to achieve symmetry.

This 25 year old patient from Twentynine Palms, California was interested in breast augmentation surgery and was referred to Dr. Pousti by a close friend and previous patient of his. During her first visit with Dr. Pousti she expressed her expected goals and felt that Dr. Pousti could help her achieve them.

The patient proceeded to the operating room and markings for the breast augmentation were performed.  This patient also had mild tuberous breast deformity which was addressed during the surgery as well.  Tuberous Breasts have a very narrow base and usually a long skin envelope. In the most severe cases of Tuberous Breast, a breast lift can be done through an incision around the areola, making the breast into a more rounded shape that the patient will be happy with. In many cases however, a lift is not necessary. The patient should be aware that the final result will take months to see and that they will need to be patient.

After making a small incision the implants were placed using the Kenner Funnel Method. A Kenner Funnel is a soft, sterile, single use, cone shaped instrument that aids in the deliverance of  pre-filled silicone gel implants during breast augmentation surgery. This method is used to prevent the surgeon from placing too much pressure on the breast incision and allows for the breast implant to make it’s way into the breast pocket with ease.

600cc Silicone Gel Implants were used for this patient’s breast augmentation to give her that nice full look that she desired.

This 22 year old female traveling from Greece to have Dr. Pousti assist her with her breast augmentation surgery. She has severe tuberous breast deformity and wanted a plastic surgeon who had experience with this procedure.  She wanted larger, rounder, more natural looking breasts and thought that Dr. Pousti was the best plastic surgeon for her.  After a few emails and discussions over the phone, this patient decided to “fly in for surgery” with Dr. Pousti.

Tuberous Breasts have a very narrow base and usually a long skin envelope. In the most severe cases of Tuberous Breast, a breast lift can be done through an incision around the areola, making the breast into a more rounded shape that the patient will be happy with. In many cases however, a lift is not necessary. The patient should be aware that the final result will take months to see and that they will need to be patient.

The incision is placed all the way around the areola so that Dr. Pousti has access to improve the shape of the breasts (by addressing the breast constriction) as well as the “puffiness” of the areola.

After pocket dissection is performed in the operating room, temporary sizers are placed and the patient is sat upright several times during the procedure to make adjustments in the size of the implant to try to achieve the look that the patient is wanting.  Dr. Pousti can never guarantee a specific cc# or cup size but he will do his best for each patient.  When the patient is sat upright, Dr. Pousti will compare her size and shape to the photos that the patient has brought in and make adjustments accordingly.

This 22 year old patient had been thinking about breast surgery for many years.  She was unhappy with the shape and size of her breasts.  She was told that she had “tuberous breasts” and so she wanted to find a surgeon who had experience with correction of tuberous breasts with breast implants.

Tuberous Breasts have a very narrow base and usually a long skin envelope. In the most severe cases of Tuberous Breast, a breast lift can be done through an incision around the areola, making the breast into a more rounded shape that the patient will be happy with.

The right breast is larger than the left breast (asymmetry between the two breasts is very normal) and Dr. Pousti will do his best to improve the symmetry during the procedure.

After the pocket is dissected,  sizer’s are placed and filled to a certain amount.  The patient is sat up multiple times during the procedure to check for size, symmetry and if there needs to be additional pocket work performed.  Adjustments are made to the pocket and size of the sizer to best achieve the patients “goal” look.

To achieve the patients goal look, Dr. Pousti placed saline breast implants filled to different amounts to account for the breast asymmetry…300cc in the right breast and 325cc in the left breast.  The incision is all the way around the areola.  This incision will allow Dr. Pousti access to improve the constriction of the breast tissue and “puffiness” of the areola.

The patient is 6 months post-op surgery and extremely happy with her breast augmentation results.  She loves the size and shape of her breasts.

This 22 year old patient from Europe had been very unhappy with the size and shape of her breast and had been interested in breast surgery for several years. After months of research the patient came across Dr. Pousti’s website and decided it was worth the travel from Europe to United States to have him perform her breast reconstruction surgery.  She was told that she had tuberous breasts and after doing her research, found that Dr. Pousti has significant experience with this procedure.

After being examined it was determined that the patient had a severe case of tuberous breast deformity. Tuberous Breasts have a very narrow base and usually a long skin envelope.

The patient and Dr. Pousti meet multiple times prior to surgery to discuss the breast augmentation procedure as well as correction of tuberous breasts. Measurements of the breast are taken and markings are made. These markings are used as guidelines to show where the breast pockets must be made and also indicate where incisions will be.

In severe cases of tuberous breasts, a breast lift can be done through an incision all the way around the areola, making the breast into a more rounded shape. After this is performed a sizer is set in place to determine the size of the implant needed to give the patient her desired look.

In this patients case 450cc Silicone Gel Implants were used to achieve her size goals.

This 24 year old female from Murrieta, California was unhappy with the size and shape of her breasts. The patient had been self conscious for years and after doing research found Dr. Pousti. She was very impressed with Dr. Pousti’s experience with breast augmentation surgery and also the fact that he was double board certified in plastic and reconstructive surgery.

During her consultation Dr. Pousti discussed the patients options with her and explained that she had a case of tuberous or constricted breasts. Tuberous Breasts have a very narrow base and usually a long skin envelope.

The patient meets with Dr. Pousti several times before surgery to go over any questions or concerns. The day prior to surgery markings are made and exact incisions are discussed with the patient in the mirror.

A breast lift was performed through an incision around the areola, making the breast into a more rounded shape. Sizers are also set in place to determine the size of the implant needed to give the patient her desired look. Once the sterile breast implants are set in place the excess skin of the areola is removed and the incisions are closed with sutures.

This patient also had a moderate amount of breast asymmetry present. To correct this two different sized implants were used. A 533cc Silicone Gel implant was placed in the patient’s left breast a d a 492cc Silicone Gel implant was placed in the patient’s right breast.

Immediately After Surgery

The patient is post op circum areolar mastopexy, correction of constricted/tuberous breasts and bilateral breast augmentation with Silicone implants. She is very happy with her results.

This 18-year old patient from San Diego, California was always insecure about her breast size and wanted breast augmentation surgery.

Her friend, who is a patient of Dr. Pousti, referred her to his office for a consultation. After meeting with Dr. Pousti and also meeting several of his previous breast surgery patients, the patient knew she wanted Dr. Pousti to perform her breast augmentation surgery.

The patient has some breast constriction underneath the breast fold, in order to achieve her desired look, Dr. Pousti will release the constricted breast tissue and round out the lower part of the breast as well as lowering the inframammary fold.

Immediately after surgery you can see the “new” position of her breast fold, over time the skin will relax and the breast will form into a natural breast shape.

Saline breast implants were used and filled to 535cc in both breasts placed submuscularly.

This 20-year old patient from San Diego, California was insecure about her breast size and was interested in breast augmentation surgery.

The patient is a recent graduate in the medical field and completed her externship with Dr. Pousti’s office, she was able to learn the ways of plastic surgery and had seen Dr. Pousti’s patients before and after surgery, she was impressed with his work. Once she completed her hours, the patient decided that she would proceed with breast augmentation surgery with saline breast implants.

Markings were performed prior surgery, the patient has slight breast constriction on the right side.

The right breast constriction was released and the and her inframammary fold was lowered and breast pockets were created for the implants to settle into. In order to achieve her desired look saline breast implants were used and filled to 500cc in the right breast and 480cc in the left breast for symmetry. She is very happy with her decision to under go surgery.

This 22-year-old female patient from Winchester, California was interested in improving her breast asymmetry, adding volume to her breasts and correction of mild tuberous breast deformity.

After examination Dr. Pousti decided that the patient was a good candidate for breast augmentation on both breasts but also a Benelli Lift on the right breast to achieve symmetry.

Careful measurements and markings were made prior to surgery to ensure that the positions of the areola are balanced.

Dr. Pousti placed sizers in to determine what implant should be used in order to achieve the patients desired look. After making the breast pocket using his pointer and index finger, 420cc saline implants filled to 450cc were used in each breast sub-muscularly.

This 27-year old patient from San Diego, California was insecure with the shape and size of her breasts. The patient wanted to have larger but natural looking breasts with a round breast shape with breast augmentation surgery.
