I came to Dr. Pousti a year ago to inquire about a tummy tuck and a breast lift/augmentation. After 4 children my breasts had lost most of their volume and were saggy. I also had sagging skin on my stomach from carrying 4 large babies. I wanted to return my figure back to its pre-baby state. I had all 3 procedures done in April of 2007 and couldn’t be happier! I feel like my old self. My breasts look better than I imagined they ever could and I have a cute little belly button again! Dr. Pousti and his staff are extremely professional and very attentive. My questions and concerned were always answered. One concern I had while looking for a surgeon was after-care. Dr. Pousti saw me at regular intervals after the surgery to ensure that I was healing properly. This made recovery so much better. If you’ve ever seen Dr. 90210 on TV, you’ll be happy to know Dr. Pousti and his staff will give you a much better experience than those poor women who go to clinics in Beverly Hills. I am a mother of 4 who nursed for 8+ yrs. I was left with a lot of empty skin. The biggest complement I have for Dr. Pousti is that no one can tell I had breast augmentation. I’ve wanted a breast augmentation ever since my breasts stopped developing at the age of 16. I went to a seminar Dr. Pousti had a couple years ago where previous patients came to speak about their experiences. However, I didn’t seriously consider undergoing surgery until about 9 months ago. I researched the risks online, read about what to expect before, during & after surgery, read testimonials on Dr. Pousti’s website and browsed the pictures. I liked what I saw and read so I scheduled my initial consultation. Dr. Pousti was always a gentleman and answered any questions I or my boy-friend had honestly. There was never any pressure to go a certain size or go with saline or silicone. I simply told Dr. Pousti what I wanted and provided him with photos, as a point of reference, to make sure we were on the same page. On the day of surgery I remember being very anxious but excited. The waiting was the worst part because of the anticipation of undergoing surgery. I remember being escorted back to the surgery room where it was quite cold. I lay down and the surgery staff began to prep me for surgery. The anesthesia was hooked up to my IV and Dr. Pousti said, “You’re going to feel a little sting but that’s normal…that’s just the anesthesia working.” I felt the sting and about 2 seconds later I was out cold. The next thing I remember is being stirred from my slumber. When I finally came to, I remember feeling very groggy (my eyelids were very heavy so I could barely keep my eyes open) and my legs wouldn’t stop shaking. I felt no nausea and was thankful that I didn’t. I was given something intravenously to stop the shaking and laid there for about 20 minutes until I felt ok to get up to go home. Dr. Pousti came over and told me that everything went smoothly, that I did great and that I’m going to have beautiful results. Come to find out later, the surgery itself only took about 45 minutes! My boy-friend came back to the post op area where I was resting and helped me out of the surgery clothes and into my street clothes. My chest felt very tight and I made a conscious effort not to constrict my chest muscles. The first three days of recovery were the worst because of the restrictive movement but fortunately my boy-friend was there to take care of me. Per doctor’s post op instructions I took my prescribed medication every 4-6 hours to make sure I felt minimal discomfort. All in all, the actual physical pain was minimal because I went in expecting the worst. I am now 5 months post op and love my results. I wanted to look proportional and natural and that’s exactly what Dr. Pousti helped me to achieve. I feel more feminine & sexy, my clothes look better and shopping is certainly more fun both for me and my boy-friend. I went bra shopping for the first time after the surgery and was shocked that my cup size is as big as it is…a 34D coming from a small 34A/B. My experience with Dr. Pousti and his staff has changed me forever. I had come to a point in my life that I had tomake a decision. I eat healthy, I exercise and no matter how lowe my body fat was, I could not loose weight in my "problem areas". Ladies I think you know what I’m talking about. Genetics are evil in my family. I was unhappy with the way my clothes fit, the way I looked in a bathing suit and was tired of NEVER being able to find a good fit in a pair of jeans. I am a 25 year old mother of two who has been up and down with weight loss, in the mists of my body changes by boobs have suffered a significant change and tissue loss I looked like I had little flat pancakes on my chest and with out a bra on you couldn’t even tell I had breasts, After years of thinking

As you can see by the photos, everything has healed really well. The most important part for Dr. Pousti was making sure that everything healed correctly, which I feel it did. I was worried, as you know, when Dr.Pousti advised me to not have the incision re-stitched, but pack it & let it heal on it’s own, but I knew there was a reason I chose Doctor to begin with, and that was because I felt that he, more than any other doctor I’d met, was truly concerned about my happiness and well being. Looking back on it now, I’m so glad I listened to him.

First and foremost if you are considering a cosmetic procedure you are in the right place!
I would like to think of myself as an informed consumer. I’m not at all an impulsive person, especially when it comes to something as significant as my health. When I first started considering having a cosmetic procedure done I consulted with my husband and we both agreed that there were several factors we needed to consider.
First, the procedure would have a lasting effect on my life. Second, it would come with associated expenses. Third, it would require effort on my part to prepare for the surgery. Fourth, the procedure would include some temporary discomfort and a continued commitment post op for me to maintain the results I desired. And fifth, we would want to make the most educated decision possible on who we would want to perform the procedure and that person would most undoubtedly have to be the best.
We spent the next several months researching the procedures I was interested in having done and then concentrated on which doctors specialized in those fields. The extra effort my husband put into this search paid off as I have been rewarded with an amazing outcome from my surgery with Dr. Pousti. What a small price to pay for such fantastic results!
After viewing thousands of before and after pictures from various other doctors, it became very clear to us that not all surgeons were created equal. What was evident to us was that Dr. Pousti is tremendously talented and that he has an ability to visualize what is required to produce the best result for each of his individual patients.
Dr. Pousti has the unique ability to make me feel like I am his one and only patient regardless of how many patients he has in his office at the time, whether I am on the phone with him, speaking with him in person, or meeting with him during an appointment. He is receptive to patient input but does not hesitate to offer his insight and professional opinion on what procedures to do, OR not to do, to yield the best outcome.
This alone must have impressed me the most about him. Dr. Pousti is not the type of doctor that would consent to doing something for any patient that would not produce the best result nor would he try to encourage any unnecessary or extra procedures. In fact, if the outcome did not warrant a specific procedure he was very honest in saying that it did not need to be done.
Viewing the pictures on Dr. Pousti’s website convinced us that he deserved to be a part of our continuing research. We learned that the rate of complications drops drastically in proportion to the number of times the surgeon has performed the particular procedure. We found that Dr. Pousti had done our procedure more than 700 times.
Also important to us was that the doctor we selected be board certified in the applicable discipline. Dr. Pousti is certified not only by the American Board of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery but also by the American board of General Surgery.
We were also impressed by the number of patients referred to Dr. Pousti who were seeking revisionary surgery to correct other’s mistakes. Doing so shows Dr. Pousti’s versatility and expertise in being able to handle these more complicated cases.
Through our studies we learned that many plastic surgeons attempt even the most complicated procedures in their offices. We viewed the fact that Dr. Pousti has hospital privileges and that he opts to perform surgeries at a full service facility as an additional professional endorsement. It also is an indication that he cares enough about his patients to assure every resource would be instantly available in the very remote chance some additional unexpected care became necessary.
We do not live in the San Diego area but Dr. Pousti and his staff are well equipped to handle fly in patients. We could’ve avoided the additional travel expense by having the surgery done closer to home but we would not have found a comparable Doctor.
We could find no one with Dr. Pousti’s similar results within hundreds of miles of where we reside and we felt that paying less would be no bargain if the desired results weren’t achieved. Doing the surgery right the first time would be far more important to us than saving a little bit of money and then having to endure pain and suffering from a lack of desired results.
Dr. Pousti’s staff is among the most professional, friendly and competent group of people we have ever met! Our phone calls were always promptly returned. They were knowledgeable and remembered me from the first phone call and each subsequent phone call thereafter. If I asked a question they were unable to answer they were very willing to find out the answer and return my phone call immediately.
Dr. Pousti had a way of making us feel comfortable from our very first phone consultation with him. He offered us in depth answers to every question we asked. No question or concern we had was treated as trivial. He never made us feel as though he was pressed for time. He seems to treat all of his patients with dignity and respect as he has done so with us during this entire experience.
Dr. Pousti was not hesitant at all to provide us with multiple prior patient contacts so we could inquire about their experience with Dr. Pousti, their surgery, their recovery, and their overall experience.
Once we arrived in the San Diego area we received several unsolicited comments from people in the medical field congratulating us on our choice of surgeons. There was no incentive for these people to share with us their experiences but they were unanimous in their praise of Dr. Pousti and his entire staff.
Dr. Pousti has a dedicated Operating Room staff at the facility where my surgery was performed. They too were professional, friendly and competent. It seems wherever we went people knew of and had respect for Dr. Pousti and his work.
After my surgery we received a phone call every day from either Dr. Pousti himself or one of his staff inquiring about my health, reminding me to do my deep breathing and exercises, and asking if I had all that I needed to keep me comfortable during the critical recovery time. I received these calls even on the weekends.
Following the surgery I received a beautiful bouquet of flowers from Dr. Pousti with a card wishing me a successful recovery. Receiving the flowers were a very unexpected surprise. Knowing what I know now about Dr. Pousti however it is certainly no surprise that he took the time to make sure I knew he was thinking about me during my recovery period.
The proof of Dr. Pousti’s competence really is in the results of his patients. I am an actual patient of Dr. Pousti and have received no compensation to promote him or to write this letter. Several years ago I had surgery to correct severe pectus excavatum that was causing some problems with my heart function and lung capacity. It was successful in that fixed a great deal of the problem-causing breastbone depression, but still left my breasts extremely asymmetrical. It was difficult to buy tops and bras and bathing suits were always an issue. I was incredibly self-conscious about them. I made the best of it because I was unsure about breast augmentation surgery. Frankly, the thought of another surgery with a long recuperation time made me not want to ever see another surgeon again!

But after many discussions with friends and family, I realized that I would be much happier if my breasts were similar. I would no longer need to camouflage the severe asymmetry through a variety of pads, "cutlets", and bras. After spending many months online researching the procedure and different doctors, I had whittled down the number of surgeons to visit to 3. Dr. Pousti was the last one I saw. During his office visit, I felt he understood what I wanted. I did not want the fake look. I wanted to look as natural as possible while evening out my breasts.

Dr. Pousti explained that breasts are not twins, but they are sisters. He told me that augmentation could help with the great asymmetry, but may not make them completely symmetrical. He also told me that augmentation would help to camouflage the depression still lurking from my previous surgery. Because of my lack of breast tissue (and other factors), he thought I should strongly consider silicone. He urged me to think about it and talk to some patients who had recently had augmentation surgery done by him. I was able to meet and ask questions about anything I wanted. Mostly, I was curious to know what they felt like and what the recuperation period was like. The other patients were honest and open. It was reassuring because I did not want to spend another long period of time recuperating. Dr. Pousti said I could call or email anytime with questions or concerns while I made up my mind.

In the car that day, my husband and I discussed the different doctors we’d visited. Both of us were most comfortable with Dr. Pousti. He seemed to understand what I wanted and needed and was not promising something he could not deliver. I also appreciated his candor about how much of the asymmetry could be corrected with surgery. After thinking about it and doing more research on both the doctor and silicone implants, I decided that Dr. Pousti was the doctor to go with. I appreciated his openness to questions and also his candor.

A few months later, we flew into San Diego for the surgery. My pre-op was on a Monday where outcomes were discussed again, and Dr. Pousti had another chance to see what he would be dealing with. On Wednesday, I went in for surgery at the Alvarado Surgical Center. The surgical center staff were all warm and friendly. Dr. Pousti came in one last time to check in. He had been deciding which incision to go with. Because of various factors he had come to the conclusion that the crease incision would be best. He also told me that he had various sizes of implants in the OR so he could work to make them as symmetrical as possible. Pretty soon the nurse and anethesiologist came to see me. An hour later I was out of surgery with beautiful breasts!

The first few days after the surgery, I followed the directions for medication so I didn’t have much pain. Four days after surgery, my husband and I went out to dinner and to see a movie. I would not say that I was ready to run a marathon, but I was certainly up and about. My fears of having another few months of my life taken away by surgery were clearly unfounded.

When I came in to see the doctor for a follow-up, I was so excited.The nurse helped me out of the various surgical undergarments. I think the entire office heard me exclaim that I finally had beautiful breasts!

The great thing is they keep looking better and better. At first they were beautiful (if not a little bit funny looking), but as the muscles are relaxing and they are beginning to drop into place they become more symmetrical literally every day. Two weeks after the surgery I went in again to do my final follow-up. More pictures were taken, and it really was incredible to compare the pictures from the first follow-up to see just how much more relaxed they are looking. With the continued use of the t-bra and surgical bra and strap, I know they will continue to drop into place.

I am very excited about the implants and can not believe I waited so long to get this taken care of. Already my confidence is bolstered. I feel like I look normal now. I really am happy I went with Dr. Pousti. I know that I can always contact his office, and I will get a prompt response to any questions.

When I was growing up, I was not one of the girls blessed with big boobs. I always felt self-conscience about it and started to wonder why I hadn’t developed like some girls. I guess Filipinas and Asians are not blessed with big boobs. As I got older, during high school, I started to wonder about Breast Augmentation. I began doing my research on the Internet for Board Certified Doctor’s in California when I came across Doctor Pousti’s website. Based on all of the information on his site and having not met the doctor in person, I knew I wanted him to be my surgeon. But at the time, I was not ready, so I put it aside and kept Dr. Pousti’s information.
Years later, I felt ready. I was tired of being insecure about my breasts. February 29th 2008, I scheduled my consultation at the La Mesa office. I can still remember how nervous I was walking in the office. The person at the front desk greeted me with a smile and in a professional manner. I filled out the necessary paperwork and waited till I was ready to be seen. I was then called and brought to a room. I met with Daisy, one of Dr. Pousti’s assistants, who was very informative, helpful, and made me feel comfortable. We talked about my desired look I wanted to achieve as well as my concerns. We looked over some before and after photos and I showed her some photos from a magazine of what I liked. I was finally able to meet Dr. Pousti, who was very kind, calm, and knowledgeable. I could not believe I was actually meeting with a surgeon. He examined me, talked about my desired look, I asked my questions, showed him photos of my dream boobs, and listened to his suggestions. After having my consult with Dr. Pousti, I trusted his work and experience. I left that day with my surgery scheduled for April 15, 2008.
March 31, 2008, I had scheduled a 2nd consultation because I was unsure of my decisions with getting Silicone vs. Saline and the incision placement. Dr. Pousti recommended that I go with Saline implants with the areola incision instead of crease. He had advised me that due to my nationality and skin type, I was prone to getting keloid scar and with an areola incision it would heal up better. My big concern with getting Saline was the ripples and the unnatural feel. Because I wanted the natural look and feel, I decided to go with Silicone. I took the chance of getting keloid scars and went with crease incision. Also since I have small areolas, I had no choice but to go with the crease incision anyway. As far as the size goes, I really didn’t know what size CC’s I wanted, so I told Dr. Pousti I wanted a natural C cup. I trusted him with the cc amount. I was happy with my choice and knew I made the right decisions and trusted my doctor.
The weeks, days, and night before the surgery, I was full of mixed emotions. I wondered if I was making the right decision, if I really wanted to do this, if I was able to handle all the ups and downs that came along with surgery, and thinking about what people would think. I knew I really wanted this, but I had cold feet.
Day of surgery, April 15th, I woke up early in the morning, got ready, took a shower, brush my teeth, made sure I didn’t drink anything. My husband drove and I remember the ride to the hospital being quiet with just a few short conversations because we were both anxious that it was already the day of surgery. When we got to Alvarado Hospital, I met Mike, the RN, who prepared me for surgery. He was very nice. He made me really comfortable and even gave me heated blankets while I was waiting to meet with the Anesthesiologist and Dr. Pousti. I want to say THANK YOU to all the Alvarado staff that helped out with my surgery! They were all very sweet and caring.
Right before surgery, I saw Dr. Pousti. He made his markings and made sure we were both on the same page. At that point, I was very nervous! I couldn’t believe this was it and no more turning back. It was time to say, “See you later!” to my husband, and I gave him a big hug and a kiss. They brought me to the surgery room and next thing I knew, I was waking up to my new, BIG boobs! I remember mumbling, “That’s it, and it’s over, that was fast!” The whole thing was only an hour and a half. The first 3 days were a blur. My husband took care of me and was the one who fed me, gave me my medicine, and helped me walk to the bathroom. I remember waking up because of being uncomfortable, taking my meds, and eating. Like I said, it was a blur. I slept for the first 3 days. The 4th day, I was feeling much better. I had a Post-op appointment with Dr. Pousti and I was able to see my boobs. I decided to look into plastic surgery once I had reached my goal weight. After having Gastric Bypass at the end of 2006, I had lost over 200 pounds and had a lot of extra skin. I felt as though to feel like the total process was completed that I needed to remove the extra skin that followed the loss of the extra pounds. I was most concerned about how the scarring would turn out after surgery, I was anxious to see how my arms would look, and curious as to how painful the entire process might be. With the medication that was prescribed I quickly overcame the discomfort. A couple of weeks after surgery my arms were unwrapped and it was time for the big reveal. When I first met you and your staff, I knew it had to be you to perform my surgery. "I have had ‘bags’ under my eyes most of my life, and for some reason was hesitant to do any kind of surgery, because I had a fear of not looking natural. So finally at age 42, I decided to look into it because I knew I would look a lot younger and fresher if the puffiness was gone. I consulted 2 other doctors in La Jolla first, but decided to look into it more and after hearing about Dr. Pousti, decided to also see him, even though his office was way further than the other doctors, and from my home in La Jolla.

From the first visit I found him an extremely honest, knowledgeable and trusting man; just the kind of good feeling you hope to get when you’re going for such a big decision. His office staff also gave me a very positive feeling, where you could see everyone was involved in some part of the patient care, and acted like one big family.

The staff and the doctor explained the pre-op and surgery procedure very clearly, and the surgery itself was probably the most ‘painless’, easy part!! I basically just said ‘hello’ and ‘goodbye’ to the doctor, not remembering any pain or discomfort during, or, after the surgery, to the point that I did NOT even take an Advil or Tylenol, let alone the strong pain meds that I had bought!! I did the procedure a few months ago, and I have not been happier about my decision (except regretting why I didn’t do it sooner!). As with anyone who is thinking of having cosmetic surgery, safety is a great concern, and then there are the results. You want to know that at the end of it all, you have the results you were looking for. I spoke with several doctors prior to coming to Dr. Pousti and I did my research on cosmetic surgery. After my first meeting with Dr Pousti, I knew that I found the person I wanted to do my breast augmentation and tummy tuck. Dr. Pousti took the time to explain the process and was more than willing to answer all my questions. I have a petite frame overall, but my upper body and chest particularly was way smaller than my lower body which is on the curvier side. My first breast augmentation was conducted in my home state where my first surgeon here was able to stretch my skin to hold 325cc implants. I went from a 32-A to a 32-D. I was not informed at this time about how my frame would do best with the types of implant profiles (high, moderate and low.) My first Doc used high profile implants so not only were my breasts too far apart for my body frame, they were also hard as rocks and hardly softened over a year after surgery. I also did not feel that my bigger cup size achieved my goal. I still wanted bigger breasts to balance my lower body and some natural cleavage. I knew my skin could stretch and I could go double the size.

After visiting with a couple of different surgeons in CO who all told me there was no way that my breasts could ever be closer together than they already were, nor could my frame handle bigger implants, I knew that there had to be a way. So I searched online for XL implants and found lovely Dr. Pousti’s office. I flew out from Denver to meet Dr. Pousti and his staff one month after an e-mail consult. After this in depth consultation with Dr. Pousti and his beautiful staff of ladies, I was confident he was the surgeon for me. So two months later I was scheduled and proceeded with my removal of implants and in with the new. Dr. Pousti listened to my goals and members of his staff discussed thoroughly with me the outcome I desired.

As far as surgery, I was very pleased with the staff at Alvarado hospital. All made me very comfortable and eased my nervousness. To say the least, my surgery and experience was a blissful breeze. My results are so wonderful just after two weeks I can only imagine in the weeks to come how gorgeous they will be. My new breasts are moderate profile 700cc which give me the fullness up top which balances out my whole body. GOAL ACHEIVED! New bra size is now 30G. I would highly recommend Dr. Poutsi to anyone considering breast augmentation XL or smaller. You truly are going to the best. If you are from out of state like myself, BELIVE ME, it is well worth the flight and nights in San Diego to recover before you?re back on your way home feeling very content with your NEW BOD! !

I flew clear across the country to be operated on by Dr. Tom Pousti and I’d do it all over again. Before Dr. Pousti repaired my breast, I suffered from symmastia and mal-positioned implants; I had two prior breast augmentations by a physician in another state. My less than desirable results from the other surgeon made my quest to find a surgeon, that I could trust, nerve wrecking. I would go to the gym at the wee hours of the morning so I could do leg-lifts without anyone sneaking a peak of my connected breasts. I would do whatever I could to hide them from my newlywed husband. Breasts are an incredibly beautiful feminine feature, but my connection made me feel more like a malformed creature than a woman.
