Biocorneum HC is the first and only FDA-Accepted silicone scar treatment with a steroid. Many patients have wondered what the difference is between this new product and the original, highly successful bioCorneum+ scar gel.
The first thing that patients will notice is the much smaller size. The bioCorneum HC is only offered in the 5g tube. This size is meant for 7 days’ worth of use.
The bioCorneum+ and bioCorneum HC share the same formula, only the bioCorneum HC contains 1% Hydrocortisone Acetate. The added hydrocortisone is needed for patients who have an inflamed surgical site. The added ingredient helps to soothe any persistent irritation or redness.
Besides those two differences, this new product is still based on the very popular bioCorneum+ product. This product should be applied twice a day, in the morning and evening. Within minutes, the product should dry into a thin, waterproof, breatheable sheet that will lock in all of the necessary moisture, while keeping out the chemical, microbial and physical invasion of the scar.
This is perfect to use in combination with Biocorneum+ for scars that have particular redness or an inflammatory component to the scar. (consult your physician regarding use longer than 7 days).
