Inverted Nipple Repair

Inverted nipples can cause functional problems for women and emotional concerns. An inverted nipple can look flat or a slit like depression or hole at the normal nipple location. There are different degrees of inverted nipples possible. Usually correction of the inverted nipples involve division of the lactiferous (milk ducts). Risks of the procedure include potential loss of sensation, inability to breast-feed, recurrence of the inversion and the potential need for further surgery.   Usually done under local anesthesia, without difficulty.

Areola Reduction

Areola reduction  involves  circumferentially removing areola  skin  around a smaller areola design. This procedure can be done under local or general anesthesia. It is often  done as part of a breast augmentation/lift,  breast lift or breast reduction  procedure. If the areola are "puffy" (for example, as seen with constricted or tuberous breasts) some breast tissue excision may be helpful.

Patients should be aware that despite best efforts scarring will be visible and potentially abnormal ( possibly thick, raised and/or pigmented).  Some areola  asymmetry may also  be present after surgery.  Their is a small chance that  a patient may lose sensation.

Nipple Reduction

Nipple reduction surgery is an excellent procedure for the patient suffering from prominent nipples. This procedure can reduce the height and/or width of the nipple. Nipple reduction surgery can be performed under local anesthesia or in conjunction with other breast procedures under general anesthesia. Exceptional aesthetics can be obtained while both the nipple innervation and its lactiferous ducts are preserved.
