Petite Framed Breast Augmentation

More and more women are deciding to undergo breast augmentation surgery to enhance the size of their breasts. Some patients desire breast augmentation to improve self esteem, others have the procedure to balance their body proportions, improve their overall appearance of the breasts, improve breast asymmetry, obtain more volume and fullness that is lost due to pregnancy, breastfeeding, and/or weight loss. With breast augmentation surgery, the risks involved with surgery and the costs of the procedure should be considered. Costs may depend on the severity and complexity of each case. Risks and complications may include but are not limited to possible bleeding, infection, loss of sensation/hypersensitivity, and/or asymmetry.

Q: Does having Breast Implant surgery guarantee results forever?

Unfortunately, breast augmentation does not guarantee permanent results. Implants may need to be replaced or revisionary surgery may be necessary in the future. Factors such as pregnancy, breastfeeding, weight loss/gain, and aging may affect the results of surgery.

Q: How do I communicate what I want to my surgeon?

Breast augmentation surgery may have both positive and negative effects on a person. In order to achieve the results you want, it is important to communicate your personal goals with your surgeon prior to the procedure. Dr. Pousti communicates with the patient by asking them to provide “goal photos” instead of discussing specific cc# or cup size. We also have the Vectra 3D Imaging System as well as calibrated in bra sizers - all of these ways of communication help Dr. Pousti choose the best breast implant size/ profile to achieve the patient’s goals.

Q: Who is a good candidate for breast augmentation?

Candidates for the procedure are persons who have a detailed understanding of the procedure, as well as, realistic expectations. It is important for the patient to have a good support system, find and research a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, prepare their financial means and have good reasoning for why she wants breast augmentation surgery. An ideal patient has completed having children, is at or near their ideal weight, and is in good physical health.

The recovery period is crucial to the healing process and it is important that you follow your doctor’s post-op care instructions to ensure the best result possible. Your new breasts should heal fine with tincture of time.
